Preparing Your Home for Winter: Essential Tips from the ETV Board of Directors
As winter approaches, it’s important to ensure your home is ready to withstand freezing temperatures, snow, and ice. To help you prepare, the Eagle Trace Village Board of Directors has compiled the following tips from trusted home experts:
Inspect your chimney
Apply caulk and weather strips to windows and doors
Schedule a furnace inspection
Insulate any exposed pipes
Add insulation to your attic
Clean out your gutters
Install and test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Shut off outdoor water valves and store your garden hose
Allow indoor faucets to drip when temperatures drop below freezing
Trim any overhanging tree branches
Stock up on essential winter supplies
Remember, winterizing doesn’t stop with your own home—your neighbors, especially those who are most vulnerable, may need assistance as well. Be sure to check in on them.
